President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni welcomed renowned Nigerian Pentecostal leader Pastor Enoch Adeboye and his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, at State House Entebbe ahead of the historic consecration of their daughter, Pastor Patience Rwabwogo, as an Episcopal Bishop..                                                                                                                                                                 The consecration ceremony, held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Covenant Nations Church's Covenant Hill in Maya, marked a significant milestone in Uganda's Christian history as Rwabwogo became the first woman to be ordained as a bishop in Uganda. The event also coincided with the church's 20th anniversary celebrations.                                                                                                                               A Father's Arrival                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), arrived in Uganda with his wife on August 19 and was received at Entebbe by Pastor Patience Rwabwogo and her husband, Odrek Rwabwogo, together with Ugandan church leaders and RCCG representatives. Described by Rwabwogo as her spiritual father, Adeboye's presence carried profound significance for the nation.  Speaking on arrival, the Nigerian preacher expressed his happiness to return to Uganda and declared his belief that God would bless the country—his fourth visit to the nation. 

State House Meeting                                                                                                                                                                                                        During the meeting at State House Entebbe, President Museveni reflected on the relationship between Christianity and African culture, noting that Christian teachings had added value to the continent's traditional values. He highlighted teachings including loving one's neighbour, showing love even to those with whom one disagrees, and the lesson of the Good Samaritan.                           "These values have strengthened our heritage as a people," Museveni said, while welcoming Pastor Adeboye and other guests attending the ceremony. He linked these teachings to the National Resistance Movement's principle of putting interests above identity.                                                                                                                                                                                                                  The Consecration Ceremony                                                                                                                                                                                          The consecration was led by Bishop Dr. LaDonna C. Osborn as the Chief Consecrator, with Archbishop Moses Odongo and Bishop Joshua Lwere serving as co-consecrators. Pastor Adeboye participated directly in the ceremony, leading the anointing with oil and prayers for the newly consecrated bishop. Presenting Rwabwogo on behalf of the elders of Covenant Nations Church, Mrs. Allen Kagina described her journey to the episcopal office as one shaped by two decades of ministry, service, leadership and commitment to the Christian faith. Twenty years ago, God planted within her heart a vision that began humbly as a small house fellowship. What appeared small in the eyes of men carried within it the seed of a much greater work," Kagina told the congregation. Bishop Osborn explained that the episcopal office is a biblical position of oversight rather than a title of prestige, describing a bishop as an overseer entrusted with governing, facilitating growth and serving God's people.                                                          Ministers' Conference                                                                                                                                                                                                   Ahead of the Sunday consecration, Pastor Adeboye participated in activities aimed at Christian ministers and church leaders, offering pastoral mentorship during a ministers' conference in Kampala.
